When Chris went out on his own with very little supplies I feel as though he went out into the wildreness just to see if he could survive. I don't feel like he just wanted to go out into the wildreness and die because if he had wanted to then he wouldn't have brought any supplies at all. The main reason I think he went out into the wildreness with so little supplies was to test himself. Chris may have just wanted to do something on his own and he might have thought a good way to do so would be in the wilderness fending for himself. Another reason he could have gone off into the wildreness could be to prove to himself how strong he could be while living off the land.
I enjoy the way Jon Krakauer starts the book with the end of the story. It allows readres to see what it soing on in the story. The way it is written is also very unique. Most books are written in the main characters point of and the way Krakauer wrote this novel is very fresh and new. It is also a lot easier to read which may pull more readres in. I believe that he did this to show other peoples side of the story and to show what an impact Chris had on other peoples lives.
I saw McCandless S.O.S letter as him giving up. Even though he tried as hard as he could he finally had to give up to live. The way he uses Chris instead of Alex shows that he really gives up and wants people to know who he is. It's not that he is just tired of the wilderness he just doesn't have the strength to go on anymore and he had no choice. I also think that he lost a lot of his pride for himself when he wrote that letter.

Into the Wild blog #1
I believe that McCandless was looking for something very special in the wild. Not something you can hold or even see. I feel as though he was searching for himself. McCandless was leaving his life behind and looking for who he truly was without people to influence him. Another thing he could have been searching for could have been to see if he had a connection with nature. There are many factors that may have contriuted to his decision to go off into the wilderness. One being that he may have been trying to find meaning in his life. It's not unusual for young adults to leave all they know behind and move away to find themselves and start a new life but McCandless just took it to an extreme. Another thing that may have pushed him to the edge could have been his frustration with soceity. He may have just gotten tired of all the ignorance in soceity and just decided to get away from it all.
